HISTORY
alsecco was founded in 1957 as a subsidiary of the Richelsdorf Works in Wildeck and has developed over the last 50 years to become one of the leading innovators in façade systems throughout Europe and beyond. As a development from the earlier coatings business, projects using alsecco spray plasters can be found as far back as the early 1960s.
In 1970 the first Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS) were introduced and alsecco started to develop and offer products for the protection and preservation of the environment. Following closely on in 1975 was the development of the first non combustible ETICS based on mineral wool, which opened up the offering to a host of new markets particularly in the public sector.
In 1988 The Follman Group of Minden took a majority share in alsecco and this was followed closely with the expansion of the distribution network in east and west Germany in 1990.
In 1993 a new production facility in Gerstungen was commissioned. Constructed in the very heart of Germany supported by major transport links, the state of the art production plant uses computer controlled ‘just in time” technology.
1995 saw the establishment of the first European subsidiaries in Austria, Benelux, Czech Republic and the UK and alsecco working on a prestigious new development at No.1 Poultry in the heart of the City of London.
alsecco Façade Design System (AFDS) was introduced in 1998 which marked a new phase of development at alsecco with the focus moving to architectural design and the AFDS brand becoming synonymous with high quality and innovation in the market for composite façades.
In 2004 alsecco joined Deutsche Amphibolin Werke Group (DAW) – owners of the famous Caparol brand. In the same year Alprotect Quattro, the highly advanced organic ETICS was launched to considerable acclaim as well as the launch of the organic One-Way disposable silo for wet products – a major breakthrough in delivering product to site.
In 2006 Editions alsecco was introduced as a further development of the AFDS, and in 2007 Alprotect Carbon was launched – the first ETICS to use an innovative carbon fibre reinforcement layer which offers impact resistance three times higher than any other system on the market.
alsecco has continued to invest and grow its market penetration and in 2011 launched alsecco OpenWall interior insulation in line with the Government’s Green Deal initiative and the drive to reduce carbon emissions.
